Terms of Service

Last updated: April 26, 2026  ·  Version 1.0

1. Agreement

By accessing or using Lokaaro ("Platform"), operated by Lokaaro, LLC (a North Carolina limited liability company), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.

2. What Lokaaro Is

Lokaaro is a local home-services directory that aggregates, enriches, and maintains a curated database of home-service businesses across US markets. Lokaaro is an information platform only — we are not a licensed contractor, service provider, or intermediary party to any transaction between users and businesses.

3. Prohibited Activities — Scraping & Automated Access

You may not use automated tools — including but not limited to bots, crawlers, scrapers, headless browsers, HTTP clients, or scripts — to access, copy, index, or harvest any data from Lokaaro without our prior written consent. Specifically prohibited:

  • Systematically downloading or copying business profiles, contact details, operating hours, ratings, or reviews
  • Bulk-collecting our data to build, seed, populate, or enhance a competing directory or database
  • Bypassing rate limits, CAPTCHA, session controls, IP restrictions, or any other technical access control
  • Enumerating URLs or API endpoints to extract structured data at scale
  • Reselling, sublicensing, or commercially exploiting any data obtained from the Platform
  • Using extracted data for targeted marketing, lead generation, or outreach without business consent
Applicable US Law
  • Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA), 18 U.S.C. § 1030 — Unauthorized access to computer systems, including circumventing technical access controls, is a federal offense. The hiQ Labs v. LinkedIn 9th Circuit ruling (2022) confirmed that bypassing technical barriers constitutes a CFAA violation even for publicly visible data.
  • Copyright Act, 17 U.S.C. § 103 — Our compiled database constitutes a copyrightable "compilation" protected as a creative selection and arrangement, regardless of whether individual records appear elsewhere.
  • California CDAFA, Cal. Penal Code § 502 — Applies to California-based scrapers; provides for criminal penalties and civil damages including attorneys' fees.
  • Stored Communications Act, 18 U.S.C. § 2701 — May apply to unauthorized access of non-public platform data.

All access is logged. IP addresses, session identifiers, request patterns, and timestamps are retained. Systematic or bulk access is automatically flagged. Logged data may be provided to law enforcement or used in civil proceedings.

4. Proprietary Database Rights

Lokaaro has invested substantial resources compiling, verifying, and maintaining its directory. The following are proprietary and may not be extracted without written permission:

  • Enriched business profiles — descriptions, service lists, and profile content added or verified by Lokaaro
  • Operational data — hours, service areas, phone numbers, and contact information maintained by Lokaaro
  • Ratings and reviews — user-generated content and engagement data
  • The compiled database as a whole — its selection, arrangement, and structure is protected even where individual elements may appear elsewhere publicly

5. User Accounts

  • Provide accurate and complete information when registering
  • Maintain the security of your credentials; you are responsible for all account activity
  • You must be at least 18 years old to create an account
  • One person may not maintain multiple accounts

6. Business Listings & Claims

Lokaaro may list businesses from publicly available sources prior to a claim. By claiming a profile you certify you are authorized to represent that business and that all information provided is accurate. False claims or impersonation may result in immediate account termination and legal action. All claim activity is logged including IP address and timestamps.

7. Reviews & User Content

  • Only post reviews of businesses you have genuinely used
  • Reviews must be honest, factual, and based on your own experience
  • Do not post false, defamatory, or commercially motivated reviews
  • By posting content you grant Lokaaro a non-exclusive worldwide license to display and distribute it
  • We may remove content that violates these terms without notice

8. Intellectual Property

All Platform content — text, graphics, logos, software, design, and the Lokaaro trademark — is owned by or licensed to Lokaaro, LLC and protected under US intellectual property law. Unauthorized use is prohibited.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE PLATFORM IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. LOKAARO DOES NOT WARRANT THE ACCURACY OR COMPLETENESS OF ANY LISTED BUSINESS INFORMATION. YOUR USE OF THE PLATFORM AND ENGAGEMENT WITH ANY LISTED BUSINESS IS AT YOUR OWN RISK.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LOKAARO SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE PLATFORM OR TRANSACTIONS WITH LISTED BUSINESSES.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Lokaaro, LLC, its officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the Platform or violation of these Terms.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time without notice for violations of these Terms or at our sole discretion. Upon termination your right to use the Platform ceases immediately.

13. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. When material changes are made, logged-in users will be prompted to review and accept the updated version before continuing. Your acceptance is recorded with a timestamp and terms version number.

14. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, USA. Disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, unless otherwise required by applicable federal law.

15. Contact

By using Lokaaro, you confirm you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms of Service. Your acceptance is logged with a timestamp and version number for audit purposes.
