Where our listings come from, what the Verified badge means, and how business owners can claim, correct, or remove their listing.
Where Listings Come From
Lokaaro maintains a directory of home service providers in the Charlotte metro area, built from publicly available business information — Google Business profiles, state licensing databases, business registration records, and other publicly accessible sources.
Most businesses listed on Lokaaro have never created an account on our platform. Their listing exists because they operate publicly and their business information is part of the public record. This is standard practice for directories, review platforms, and local search services.
If you found your business listed here and want to take ownership of it, correct information, or request removal — there is a straightforward process for each of those. See below.
Lokaaro is an independent pricing intelligence and directory service. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by any licensing board, government agency, or trade association.
What the Verified Badge Means
A small number of listings carry a Verified badge. This means a Lokaaro team member has manually reviewed the business and confirmed at least one of the following:
For trades that require a state license in North Carolina — electricians, plumbers, HVAC, general contractors — we checked the relevant licensing board and confirmed the license is active and held by this business.
For trades that do not require a state license — tree service, junk removal, handyman, cleaning, landscaping — we confirmed the business is registered and in good standing with the NC Secretary of State.
The Verified badge confirms that the business legally exists and, where applicable, holds the required state license. It does not evaluate quality of work, pricing fairness, customer satisfaction, or any other performance measure.
How We Verify
Verification follows one of two paths depending on the trade:
Applies to: electricians, plumbers, HVAC, fire sprinkler, general contractors, remodeling.
Applies to: tree service, junk removal, handyman, cleaning, landscaping, pressure washing, moving, and other trades without a state license requirement.
- Payment of any kind — verification is always free
- Bank details, passwords, or credentials
- Documents sent by email as a substitute for a public board lookup
What the Verified Badge Does Not Mean
- That Lokaaro endorses the quality of work, pricing, or customer service of this business
- That the license or registration has been continuously re-checked — we verify at a point in time
- That the badge was purchased or can be purchased — it cannot
- That the business is insured or bonded — we do not verify insurance
Lokaaro is a pricing and trust research tool. It is intended to help homeowners ask better questions before hiring — not to replace their own due diligence.
